Hi ClubCJ,
I am a new member and almost at the stage of buying a 2011 Lancer VRX.
I am down to 2 choices both available at the same dealer:
- an ex-demo with 5000ks, white, VRX 2011 model for $26 500.
- or a new red VRX 2011 for around $31 000.
I really would prefer red but I think the 26k price for an almost new 2011 model is too resisting.
What do you guys think? Is 26 500 a really good deal for a 2011 VRX with 5000ks?
Also, for you guys with red lancers, what are your opinions on the colour and maintenance of the red colour?
Thanks in advance ,
Ali.

I always get what I want. A purchase such as a car is a decision that you will have to live with for a while.
Saying that white is such a practicable colour and looks great with a few mods.
Red is a hard colour to maintain especially if it is left in the hot Australian sun.
But it is your decision. Money or dream? Best of luck.
If I was you I would go in on the last day of the month/year at the end of the day and sign for the car. This is the best time to pressure the sales person for a good deal. They have monthly quotes to meet and stock will be a old model next year that will be harder for them to sell.

Thanks for your input guys,
These prices were given and haggled down on Christmas eve a few days ago. I was told it was a very good time to buy due to end of year/meeting quota etc. The salesman said he could also keep the 26 500 price for a few days and he would come to my house to sign if necessary but I would like to test drive the car first. I have only test driven another MY10 VRX.
It was a shame because if I had signed on that day (24th) I could have gotten a reverse camera thrown in for $26 800. But there was no way I was going to purchase as I hadn't test driven it and he couldn't get any service or maintenance records (it was a rush, near closing time). He actually had to ask the top boss driving away in an EVO for confirmation on the 26 500 price, but he agreed.
@ Milobob - Both prices are for automatic models.
@BlueVRX - new vrx MY11 go for $26,990? Where on earth can you get prices that low may I ask? The salesman quoted me around $31 000 for a new 2011 auto VRX

Let me tell you the salesman does not need to ask his manager on the $26,500 price. He knows the price and just uses that tactic to look like he is trying to get you a good deal. Good cop, bad cop routine.
I suggest you go to a few other dealers this week and test out the prices. You may find a red demo vrx.
I would go back and get the car for $26,500 with as many extras as possible. Reverse camera, mats, rear scuff flag guard, reverse sensors etc or even ask for cheaper price. Remember the car will be a year old next year and they will have to drop price even lower.
Always use dealers against each other. Dont get suckered in to you must sign today. There will always be cars for sale.
Ugh go manual, save money
Anyways, I'd go for the white one, assuming its good inside. Thats a pretty good price assuming it is. (if I got my VR, which was new, as an auto it would've been about that price. I would've gotten a demo VRX over my VR any day )
Theres always going to be somewhere you could've gotten it cheaper. But you should go to as many dealerships as you can before you buy.
Best of luck
(and yeah, make sure you try to get extras thrown in, especially floor mats, but it sounds like they don't want to give you freebies or drop the price any more)

Considering my MY10 RX cost me 26,600 new (cvt) I'd say go for the ex demo as it's a good deal.
Just my 5 cents

Prices have come down! My white manual VRX cost me well over $30k when I bought it new (18 Months ago)!
Sounds like a sweet deal for a VRX. I have heard said that red cars in general tend to fade over time so if you intend to keep the car for a long time you might want to consider that. I have a white VRX Sportback and I think it looks shmexy.

You know that you have really got to someone when they invest personal time into tracking you down all over the internet.

This forum is great!
Also, a question, does adding modifications void the Mitsu 10/5 warranty or anything like that? And does it depend on which mod? I'm assuming new wheels and tyres don't really matter but what about something like angel eyes?
I'm thinking about going to a few other Mitsu dealers around Brisbane for prices then going back to original dealer. Although it is almost the new year and most dealers aren't open much, is it better to get a deal before the new year?
Thanks.
Ali.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for all your help and advice!
I signed the contract today at Springwood Motorama Mitsu in Brisbane for a 2011 red VRX auto for $28 570.
This price includes delivery from Melb (~$750), mats ($50), reverse camera (~$695) and personalised plates ($415) so I'd say it was a fantastic deal!
We even rang up our previous salesman at Zupps, Mt Gravatt to see if he could beat the $27 500 price for a new, red, automatic VRX and he said GET THE DEAL! as there was no way his manager could go that low haha.
Thanks for all your advice again guys,
Ali.
