Yeah if you don't want to modify then tuning will be fine. I would suggest getting the boost pill tune from Merlin. Also if you want to flash back to stock for dealership servicing/warranty, then you should also buy a tactrix box which is quite cheap and easy to use.

Tune with a boost pill would definitely give you enough power if you don't want to mod.

Merlin tune is the best value-for-money mod you can ever have. He recommended the Grimmspeed Boost Control Solenoid with the tune so as to better exploit the turbo's response. It's only about $120, plus $450 for the tune itself. You'll certainly notice how greatly the lag would be reduced afterwards.

Grimmspeed 3 port not really necessary, and if you don't want your dealership to find out you have been tuning then I highly recommend not putting on the Grimmspeed.

Merlin can supply the boost pills, he will install and tune at the same time. Which is good because he should know how his boost pills react in his tuning.

Not all boost pills are the same.

Oh is it not? Merlin himself said that he could extract more useful boost with the Grimmspeed. And can't Mitsubishi also find out about the boost pill change anyway?

The Grimmspeed is "better" but not "necessary". Look this guy doesn't want to mod so I am guessing he still wants to use dealership servicing and be safe for warranty work. I was doing the same thing for over a year, worked well.

It's a lot easier to reflash the tune and pop out the boost pill and put in the stock pill than to remove the Grimmspeed, put your Stock boost solenoid back in, then replumb it all again.

It is possible to do, not really hard, but more time consuming.

Just a suggestion, plus you only spend $10 for a boost pill rather than $120 for a Grimmspeed.

I was under the impression the aftermarket boost pill is idential to the OEM one. So aesthetically no difference but obviously it is modified to provide more power and better tuning.

If all you want is a tune and dont want any parts, merlin can do that.
You'll get a bit more boost/power and he can tidy up the fuelling so its a bit leaner (less fuel used when you give it some)

next level would be the boost pill (little brass thing that goes inside the vacum hoses) its not visible at all. It replaces the stock boost pill.
This gives you/merlin alot more options when tuning boost and you can get much more power for the price of your tune.

Also bare in mind when you have to return the car to stock tune ( for dealer servicing) you will have to take out the boost pill and put back the stock pill as well! A boost pill with a stock tune can create internal damage to the engine
