man , nowadays knockoff companies such as rotas are selling like hotcakes. No wonder companies like ARC goes bankrupt.

Obviously you won't. I remember that it is the value of the item itself that is being taxed not the shipment. I recently bought one worth A$900 and did not have to pay duty. If you are still not sure, try looking for a custom broker company like ACC customs clearance in Sydney, they will provide information that export goods help them successfully get their shipments out of the country to us in different parts of the world.

Talk to someone like TNT or Toll they do international transport
Depending on what it is and how heavy it is you can also use Australia Post also

The original post is now out of date.

The import laws got changed a couple of years ago (thanks very much Gerry Harvey, you worthless turd) so that anything you import is liable for GST. Yes, even that $2.50 widget off eBay. :-(
