Bonnet protectors- Worth it or not

Postby Latino_Ralliart » Thu Aug 25, 2011 12:03 pm

Hey all,

Just wondering if many of you have these bonnet protectors? Going to Port Stephens in a couple weeks and its a longish drive was thinking of buying one to protect my car.

Only want to use it when travelling long distances so easy and safe installing and removal is important.

What do you guys think of these items? If they are worth it is the OEM versiont the way to go or are there better aftermarket options. Have research the magnetic car bra but a member on this site had issues with it so decided to stay clear of it.

Cheers

I am personally not a fan of the OEM ones, or the magnetic bras....

I think you are better off using the clear film protector. I have it on the focus and short of the line where it finishes, you would not even notice it is there :)

well i was the first to have a Magnetic car bra and i havent had a problem with mine.

But i have read somewhere that the Bra wont stick to the RA bonnet, i guess grab a fridge magnet and see if it sticks.

But Shane is right (for once) the clear film would be better

Cool will go check it out. Saw the 3M Scotchguard also. Will see if anyone actually installs it. I can't even properly put a screen protector on my Iphone.

Funny you bring this topic up today. Got a bonnet protector on my MY11 VRX & although im not a fan of them as they sort of spoil the look, my protector just paid for itselft yesterday.

Was driving down the freeway and saw this bit of debris(about 2cm x 2cm) fly up from a ute infront, & hit right into the middle & fly off the protector. Definatly would have done some sort of damage if it was not on.
