Feel free to read thru the ADR laws and you will see that red and blue colour light on a vehicle at the front which isn't an authorised emergency vehicle is against the law , in all states at territories across our country.
It makes zero difference if you mount the led bar above or below the licence plate so long as it doesn't obstruct it. Again , read the ADR regulations and bring yourself up to speed with our law. Google is your friend

Yes once again looking at an LED light bar, thought I might move on it now and not wait until the next trip.

So this time my question is about the lower grill, are there any options that will fit the 09 VRX that will open it up to letterboxed more light through?

What have others done to allow better airflow in general?

https://www.stedi.com.au/

I have the licence plate mount
Stays right out of the way of the vents in the bumper

Works a treat
From memory it's 21 inch

The pedestrians part is interesting as I used to have spot lights on my CC coupe which were on a home made number plate holder, they were on the car for many years and I never got puled up for them.

Its also the reason I'd rather place it in the lower grill area. I'm sure I can make a bracket to fit it.

The problem with mounting lower to the ground is more reflection to bounce up off the road do you can't see WTF your doing
Hence why the document I linked in said to have the lights mounted close to the centre of the vehicle

I know they are legal but that document kinda contradicted that by saying not to change the profile of the car. Ideally you'd mount them Rally style to the bonnet but that would break another rule.

And when they said centre they mean not left or right of the centre line of the car?

I thought the document was pretty clear to me
At the centre line of the car
The licence plate holders are fine, I'm sure if they weren't , the amount of times I been pulled over in the last 10 years with those I'm sure I would have been done by now.
However
I haven't been.
On the bonnet is totally illegal as it blocks your vision
Not.ontly that , makes the bonnet even heaver to lift so why would you do that on the street?

Yeah I know on the bonnet its impractical and yeah illegal but from the drivers see I doubt you'd see a light bar.
Yes you'd probably see a row of 3-4 big 6" rally lights and the cover.

Then I've never checked what you'd see from my driving position at the leading edge of the bonnet.
