I just ordered the module from the US. The cord connects to your OBD port and transmits via wifi to your iPhone (or PC). iPhone displays and logs data.
Nothing actually plugs into the iPhone, so obviously wont charge it.

All good ... got it from plxdevices on eBay for AUD$184 shipped. The App costs $47ish ... I'll get it once the module arrives (that's some kind of quasi-budgeting right there

)

Heh ... might be a smart move. Plenty of videos on youtube of the system working well though, including one in an EvoX ... but I'll be sure and post my results once the module arrives.
After building a detailed instrument cluter in my old car, I find it unnerving not know exactly what my water temp etc is. A simple temp bar telling me everything is ok doesn't really work for me. Also allows graphing of air mass and intake temps which might be good for testing intake changes etc. Sounds like fun.

my brother got a ScanGuage for xmas and it measures intake temp, water temp etc and it was $180. it does pretty much the same thing but the iphone app is much better looking

Good luck with it I have read that some people cant get it to connect with their phones and some who have had it connect reported it was laggy. nothing beats a wired system for performance.

I am going to start modding my eeepc and hook it up to my screen in the car...
I am tempted by the Iphone apps though

Yeah I've been keen to hook a PC up to my car for a bit now and start looking at some data. The look of this app is what finally sold me though. Just looks so clean.

Question though will it work on the Lancer? if it does how much info can it read? I'm logging on Evo Scan but for the AU Ralliarts there isn't a lot that can be logged. Remember the Lancers are running a Can-Bus MuttIII connection not a OBII. The plugs are the same but the programming is different. You should be able to read RPMs, Speed, but the rest you'll have to wait for an update for the AU coding.
