Good pricing ofey, I had ordered a set from Hens a couple of weeks ago,
expecting delivery tomorrow.
You may want to check about the spring rates as I believe BC have changed their std rate to a more "balanced " rate of 6/4.

Hey Ross,

Your right, the Just Jap Auto Imports webpage does mention:
Front = 6kg
Rear = 4kg

However, I can comfirm its a misprint, I checked it out when I was collating specs on Monday and double checked it with the BC Supplier in Melbourne before forwarding on all the info and contacts to Ofey.

Regards: Sam.

Hi Sam,
Hopefully I'll be able to confirm tommorrow when I receive mine.
Henry from Hens performance got a set airfreighted in for me & emailed me before he sent them onto me advising they were 6/4.
Darkside engineerings website also state BC have changed their spring rates.
Will let you know.
Cheers
Ross

For reference, the K Sports are - 7.5 kg Front
6.0 kg Rear

Cheers, Ron.

Hey Ron, thanks for that, sorry bout the late reply(or early) was walking round Edinburgh. How do u find the ride of the springs, obviously with the dampening on a reasonable setting

Pretty sure that's what my VA's are supposed to be as well.

8/6 is said to be too stiff for Australian roads, 7/5 is supposed to be around optimal in terms of the tradeoff between ride and handling whereas 6/4 will be better for daily driving but not have as good handling

With the 7/5 VA's I find that when the dampening is as soft as it can go it's pretty floaty and the feeling through corners isn't the best, but its quite a gentle (for coilovers that is) ride, at about 1/3 dampening for me is what I find to be a good trade off for daily driving, the feeling of the car is alot more coposed and the ride quality isn't too bad even on crappy roads. At around 1/2 - 2/3s dampening is good for a spirited drive along crappy roads and for track conditions or really well sealed roads up around 5/6-full dampening works well. The thing you have to remember with coilovers is you can't set the dampening to high for shitty roads otherwise the coilover can't respond quick enough to keep the wheel down over bumps, etc and you'll easily lock the brakes up under anything more than light to moderate braking and have trouble getting the car to stay planted through a corner....

All in all coilovers whilst rougher are still way better than lowering springs, what I found is the King springs bumped the car all over shitty roads, whereas whilst with coilovers you'll feel all the bumps harshly (depending on dampening setting) the car still stays composed and travelling in the direction you want it to...

I rang and spoke to Matt at Just Jap Auto Imports today to double check and confirm the Spring Rates for the BC Coilovers.

As for the RA Type: Front = 8kg & Rear=6kg
It seems that the WebPage Design guy stuffed-up with the advertised specs.
Matt said he would get onto him and have the specs amended.

Point to note: BC will supply any Spring Rate you desire, I believe you can pick or choose whatever you like at the point of order.

My Pedders Extreme XA's are Front=7kg & Rear=5kg.

My BC BR type RA did arrive today & came with 6/4 spring rates.
This is as they came air freighted as brand new stock' courtesy of Hens Performance,(I believe he has some more sets in stock )
Henry was a little confused at first but was able to confirm that this is now BC's std spring rate.
Be interesting to see what others end up with.

Hey Ross,
If you have them in your hands and they state 6 and 4, then I cant argue with that.
The last digit printed on the spring designates the rate.
During my conversation with Matt today, I mentioned Henry from Hens Performance, and Matt said they know and supply coilovers to him.

I'm still perplexed as to how it can be that Just Jap (distributor / supplier) state one rate yet you recieve a different rate from a retail on-seller.

I might now have to ask a bunch of you who are after these to add what spring rate you'd like?

I'll be going for the most comfortable 6/4!
