I think everyone forgets that electricity has less lagg :) It is not like a traditional evo platform but i guess it is the future. Everyone complained about the Evo X when it came out.. oh its 150kg heavier than a IX... blah blah blah.. I sold my IX and went to a X MR. Yes it is heavier but... lets compare HID X MR = YES IX = NO DVD NAVIGATION X MR = YES IX = NO RECARO X MR = PROPER JDM SEATS + HEATING & AIRBAG IX = CRAPPY SEAT BOLSTERS NON JDM. NO HEATING. NO AIRBAG AIR BAGS X MR = 9 AIR BAGS IX = 3 AIR BAGS WHEELS X MR = 18 BBS IX = 17 BBS (IF YOU BOUGHT THE PERFORMANCE PACK) SUSPENSION X MR = YELLOW BILSTEIN IX = YELLOW BILSTEIN (IF YOU BOUGHT PERFORMANCE PACK) RAIN WIPERS X MR = STANDARD (IN ALL EVOS) IX = NO BREMBO X MR = LARGER AND 2 PIECE SYSTEM IX = YES SINGLE PIECE SOUND SYSTEM X MR = ROCKFORD FOSGATE IX = OKAY SPEAKERS FOUND IN LANCER KEYLESS ENTRY X MR = YES IX = NO DIGITAL EUROPEAN INFO METER X MR = YES IX = NO MIVEC X MR = 4B11 HAS INTAKE AND EXHAUST VARIABLE VALVE IX = INTAKE ONLY KW X MR = 217KW IX = 206KW HANDLING X MR = S-AWC IX = ACD There was a tuner that says the 4B11 is a much better race engine. 4G63 was solid but it was never up to the level of 4B11. 4G block has been around since Cordia and Starion. Mitsubishi did what they should have done ages ago, which was to turn the engine the other way round. Things also like the automatic turbo timer on the X MR is also a cool feature. Overall it is a more solid car. So going back on topic, maybe the new Evolution will be another jump above 4B11. My 2 cents from my experience going from IX to X MR

I think you are missing the key factor tho. The Evo is supposed to be a loud, fire breathing smog building deamond... An electric evo is just, not an evo. I like my evo, it makes baby seals cry... >_> lol Seriously tho, there is something about electric cars, and Hybrids, that just seems so sterile. I'll stick with internal combustion any day, I just wish they went more of the Ethanol or Hydrogen path.

Lol I get you, but I guess how much are you willing to pay for something like that? That is the next question.

To much tech ruins things, electronic steering on the new focus st ruined the handling, something previous focus models are renowned for. But it is shown modern electric engines can be very fast. But I agree it wouldn't feel like a real car

Well as I was saying.. so many people were paying out the X before and after it came out... without driving one.

Ill wait until my dealer gets one in for me to test drive if and when it comes out.

As Chadd's link shows, in hub motors, could be the best way of the future in most vehicles of any type.

When battery technology or fuel cells etc improve too, the lack of transmission, drive shafts etc and an engine and fuel tank will free up all the space and weight for the electric motors and batteries, fuel cells etc and allow them to go under vehicle as well as in front or rear depending on where the "engine bay" would have been. This will allow more even weight distribution etc.

This company is making big strides in hub motors-

Mitsubishi did that like 5 years ago. Imagine what they will do by 2016.

Nobody likes change I guess.. especially the Evo Purist. Ill just wait and see.. then drive one :)

No Chadd they did that 8-9 years ago, minimum!!!

Date is 2005 in title, which means they were working on it several years before that

Batteries atc have made huge strides since then.

Either way, in hub motors, for either 2wd or 4wd look like the future. All that power and torque right at the wheel with no drive train components and thus no power losses there either.
