From its core source, yes you're right - but different brands' refineries do produce some differences.
But I 100% agree with what you said about fresh fuel - a station with a high turnover in customers is always good because you're guaranteed the freshest fuel.
Interesting 'fact' I was told by a friend in the fuel industry (don't quote me on this) 98RON fuel is actually transported at 101RON to allow for degradation in storage.

98 from 7 eleven coz convinient and cheaper, occasionally bp ultimate 98 or shell v- power 98. Heard all 98 contain additives to clean engine where 7 eleven doesn't (cheaper) is that true?

I use 91. Its the cheapest and I'm stingy. I've used the 95 before a few times and never noticed any difference. I've never put the 98 in my car. Been told there's no point unless it had a turbo or supercharger or had been heavily modified n tuned.
I usually go woolies/caltex cos I get discount and its close by. If Im desperate for fuel n can't be stuffed driving I fill up at the bp which is about 100m from my house.

Oh look its this thread again!

I use 95 from where-ever. I avoid Shell but only because the one near my place is crap. I also don't use United/Mobil ever.

So I guess that means BP or Caltex :P

As above, I found a couple of servo's that don't have much water in hte tanks. Not too long ago down here, a couple of places got shut down because cars were filling up and not making it out of the driveway. Coles/Shell for teh discount, 95 because I just don't like the e10 in a four banger

my car is dual mapped for either 95 or 98 but I generally use 98 because it turns out to be cheaper anyway since I find I get more km's on it..

Caltex 91 now ever since I found out my car can't even use any 98 properly and causing a really foul smell all over the place. Lol.

I get about 700ish kms out of it surprisingly and it's never been tuned or anything. :) Pretty good I reckon.
