So We've had this old Hydraulic Floor Jack for some time and a while back it developed a leak, top it up before use and it works fine.

Is it worth fixing given you can get a new one from SCA this week for half price, $30?

Anyone here had experience fixing this type of jack?

It's not worth fixing. Throw it out and buy a new one

Bit heavy to 'throw' out LOL
Yes its something I haven't used in a while and don't use often.
But I just hate waste, too many things like this get thrown out because it costs more to fix then replace.
Ideally I'd get a low profile one when I need it but will take a closer look at the old one first.

Welcome to 2017. We are a throw away society. Majority of time it is cheaper to replace something then repair it. I can remember 20 years ago repairing electronics in a variety of devices and getting down to component level and replacing components. Those days are almost gone. There is very few places left who do this now days. Now days a fault gets tracked to the board thats faulty and replace that entire board. For jack thats faulty is it worth the hassle of fixing? Nope. Think about it. You want to lift something off the groubd that weights at least 1 ton. Thats more then enough to kill you if your under it and that jack fails.
Do you really want to risk that?
I doubt it.
Do yourself a favour. Theow it in the bin. Go buy a new one

I like fixing things but yes for a lot of stuff that's getting so much harder. I did see a thing online but the parts will probably cost more than the new jack, which is a problem with cheap tools like this. If it was a $500 jack then $50 for parts to fix it is no big deal. There are some 'man sheds' which do work on things like this for free where you can take it apart and then just pay for any new parts if they are needed. Not sure if there are any around Caloundra.

As they warn you I'd never just use the jack apart from a quick wheel change its always best to use stands to support the load.

So Dback to my jack, I dug out the old one and was surprised to learn (remember) its actually a cheap one from SCA, 1500kg with SuperWorks on the side. Looks pretty much like this one but red, which is normally $60 but this week is on sale at half price.

We used to have a much bigger one and now I'm trying to remember what we did with it, I'm getting old so don't remember LOL Must have sold it before the last move.

I'd love to get the low profile Tool Pro one for about $95, better and lighter.

My perfect SCA one would be this but can't justify the $279 price right now.

So for now I'll give this one the once over since I don't use it much and look at saving for the $95 one!

BTW I wasn't sure when we got this jack, last night I when back through some photos and found we had it as early as 2004, so this cheap jack has really done well lasting 13 years so far!
