seems to me to be a type of HDR,
true HDR is archived by 3-5 photos taken at proper exposure and 2 steps up and down from perfect then blended together to create a high and low combination exposed picture.
from his pictures seems to be that but maybe a bit over the top for proper HDR
HDR means high dynamic range

Blakey I have been doing photography for over 25 years profesionally, my work has been published from fishing magazines to Sydney Herald.. I have also been to the USA for a storm chasers Photography shoot because of what I do.
I have been doing HDR images for over 5 years. there are many types of HDR images and yes these are what you call cooked. Its a prefrence of mine and I do other types of HDR images also. the ute photo is HDR also.
