Hey all, first time posting I’m wanting to get more into cars and I thought this would be a great place to learn
I own a 2016 Lancer ES, I’ve recently gotten a Universal Varex Muffler (2.5in, 2.5out), controlled by a remote to control the sound output, however upon opening the valve up I found that the sound output isn’t much louder than stock.
I was hoping to make it sound a bit louder, more aggressive, without making it sound bad or droney, anyone know what the next step to take would be?
Thanks

Re: Exhaust Help
Hey Gunners,
Only being a 2.5 inch in and out makes me think there isn't enough flow to create a huge variance in sound. Because your stock exhaust is 2.5 inch your not changing much and therefore the sound isnt much different.
I would say to get the biggest sound variance you would want to look at something like the below with a 2.5 in and 4inch out

Re: Exhaust Help
The stock exhaust diameter in an ES is 2 1/8 inch diameter.
Best size for NA is 2.25 inch
Any Bigger and the exhaust velocity is too slow.
There goes all your torque.
Read this it's a nice summary
https://www.lukey.com.au/pages/exhaust-size
The horrible rasp is telling you the exhaust is too big.
Bigger is not always better and this is exactly the case right here.
I run 2.25 inch with fibreglass packed resonator and fibreglass packed Lukey.
No rasp
No lack of torque
Read a performance exhaust book and learn for yourself if wish.
Enjoy
