Hi Everyone
My name is Gary,I live in Sydney (Panania),I am between jobs at the moment but normally have worked in Logistics.I bought my CJ Lancer VR RED back at the end of 2007,at the time I thought my Lancer was a really good looking car and it really had all the bells and whistles on it.Its been a really good car and really has given me few problems until last week when the ABS alert went off,so I took it to my Auto electrician who found a Faulty Control Module..Total cost to repair $2800!!!!Nearly fell over!.I rang Mitsubishi head office and the customer care guy suggested I take it back to Parramatta Mitsubishi where I bought it new and submit an out of warranty claim, which I did and they didn't want to know me,even though the car has a full service record and has only done 93000kms,when I walked from their office to my car I started it and found no sign of the alert and could switch the stability control back on,took it back to the auto elect and he said the code had cleared!!!Looks like the CJ has a real issue here,Please any feedback would be great.

Apparently the CJ has had a few ABS issues, not sure if its a major problem which is any worse than any other car of the same age.
But on a good note there are some here who have had the same problem fixed for way less than the dealer cost, I'm sure they will say something here or do a search for ABS in the top right.

Faulty Control Module.
Thankyou everyone for your welcome, this is a really great website for CJ fans!Thankyou turbogirl for your advice but the unit has failed now as Antony from Specialised Auto Electonics at Seven Hills said it would.I put a new battery in the car and a number of visits to my Auto Electrician but no good.My Mechanic told me the spares guys at Warwick Farm said CJ FC Modules have become a problem with out of warranty CJ Lancers,so it seems Mitsubishi has a problem here but I was just shown the door! You cannot register your car if this unit has failed.I guess the only way around this is to get rid of your CJ once it is out of Warranty!!!!! Safe driving all :

Re: Hi everyone - Gary from Sydney
Hi CJ Fans,Just an update about the issue I had with my Module on my VR Lancer, well a few months ago my ABS light came on again and stayed on so I assumed that the Module had failed again so I rang Antony from Specialised Auto again and he said no problem bring your car in and he will repair it free of charge....but it turned out it wasn't the Module but a failed sensor which they picked up straight away so they replaced the sensor with a discount and all has been good.My VR was new when I bought it in 2007 (The first of the new model) and its been a great car and I believe its still one of the best looking cars on the road even after 10 years...my friends always comment how cool the red metallic looks!

After much investigation including a new battery the module had failed (Low Voltage) and I had the part refurbished for $700 dollars at Auto Specialists (Antony) Seven Hills..Western Sydney...took about 4 hours as the Module is a tricky part to remove and apart from the ABS light (Failed Sensor) coming on again all is good....I did find out that the Module was manufactured by another company and generally fails outside the warranty period....this part was also installed and failed in BMWs......Cheers, Gary.
