Ben's ride thread
Picked up an MY10 VRX Sportback recently. It's red, but turns orange every three days from the dust.
Will probably use this thread to post updates re my modding. Hope that's ok... Bit hard to tell with all the missing Mattigins posts...
Liking much of the content on here. Hoping to contribute some.
Cheers,
Ben

Re: Ben's ride thread
Cool the year after my VRX sedan, don't know if they made any changes in my10?
Re: Ben's ride thread
Yeah, to be honest I think it's a MY09, but I keep getting told it's MY10...
RHS compliance is stamped 04/09 and LHS is stamped built 10/08 - which in my book - makes it MY09...
As far as I know, there were no changes until MY11.

Re: Ben's ride thread
When you go in for the recall the dealer should be able to tell you 100% which way it is. The model year for some makes can start in the middle of the year before or at least 3 months before the end of the year.
Sometimes I wish mine was a few years newer with a few extra toys like electric leather seats and parking sensors.

Re: Ben's ride thread
So confirmed today it's definitely an MY09 - as expected.
All while trying to ignore the fact that the show was called "The Six Million Dollar Man"...!
Electric leathers are nice but are defintely hot in summer, plus they do sit marginally higher, and in the CJ frame it feels like you're half way to being in a van as it is. The Recaro ones (Evo...?) would be nice though. My last ride had an auto-dimming rear view mirror with the reverse camera screen in it too (rather than the console) - much more intuitive IMHO. Power folding mirrors - heated ones - with side repeaters and lane merge assist would be nice too... Maybe I'll mod some of the Replace ones from CARiD. And parking sensors / or a camera up front would be awesome. Hell, why not stick a couple of cameras in the side mirrors too...! Might as well try while the boss misses her comforts...
BTW, Do you have a cruise "set" light? I can't see one at all. It's a bit annoying. I pickup up a new owner's manual tomorrow, so I can have a look through that for it, but suspect there isn't one and you guys would already know. Wonder if colour clusters have it...
Better look into Shannon's current insurance offerings too...
Lots of mods to attempt... Will link to them in here...
I've come from this, so I'm having thoughts of Lee Majors playing Colonel Steve Austin, complete with the voice-overs: "We can rebuild him", "We have the technology", "Better than he was before" and "Better, Stronger, Faster"...Lancer1993 wrote:Sometimes I wish mine was a few years newer with a few extra toys like electric leather seats and parking sensors.

Oh, and this morning I got three new pulleys with the new drive belt, and my wand connectors drowned in dielectric grease...!

i had the red VRX cluster, no light, hit cruise control, then set cruise or whatever it is, lay off the accelerator and you are done, i normally find you need to bump it up once or twise as it slows before kicking in
also the ASX cluster i have now (Colour) is the same, just with a few more Fuel observing features

Re: Ben's ride thread
Yeah, cool.
Trying to avoid that hesitation that a light brings as it drops speed - especially if you don't trust the switch... I'll probably have to get in the habit of hitting set then accelerate once or twice, like you said. Either that, or set it a couple of kms/h higher and let it drop...
Re the cluster, speedo on the RHS, tacho on the LHS, right?

Re: Ben's ride thread
There is a CRUISE light in the cluster to tell you cruise control is active but nothing to tell you if its actually on or off. I usually leave mine active.
Yeah I just set the speed I want, using my right foot. Then hit the SET button, but yes often I have to tap the top one to get it to the exact speed I want. But being a manual I do love how dropping down a gear disengages it without having to touch anything.
Also the optional color cluster has the speedo on the right, mine was from an Outlander. I still say its one of the best mods I've done and well worth the money. Its way clearer to read than the stock 'red' one for my 09 VRX. On top of that the layout is better, with more info you need at once. Its just better and something Mitsubishi should have made standard a lot sooner!

Ben you probably don't want to use that trans gasket.....they leak like a sieve. Use a genuine gasket.
