AWD Lancer

If they can offer that here with a minor price increase, then I'd be pretty interested. The AWD system on the Impreza is pretty much the only reason why I would consider a base model Subaru. If Mitsubishi does the same, I'd be glued to them

And if you ask me AWD is a handicap on a low-powered car. It'll be a fair bit slower in all except rain launches.

That's the problem with the imprezza. AWD but simply too weak! Go drive one and compare it to your Lancer.

They should have just worked on the diesel version to be distributed to more parts of the world, including Australia.

Didn't realise it was posted elsewhere. I still don't know where the original post is from the Search function.

I'm interested in AWD for the handling. The base Imprezas are pretty shocking in terms of straight-line urge, but go well around corners. The auto transmissions on most Subarus are pretty bad as well, but it looks like they're moving towards CVT for the next-gen.

FWD is still the most economical layout for the Lancer here and it's working for them alright, so I don't think the AWD will be coming here anytime soon.

A diesel option would be quite nice to have. It seems to be working for the Holden Cruze. Once they get rid of the Evo and Ralliart range and continue with their "green" image, they might actually consider bringing it in to be honest.

The only thing stopping me from turboing my car is the fact that it is FWD. If I had AWD I would have turboed ages ago.

It will be a good move on mitsubishis part if they bring it over here imo.

If you can make it AWD you can make it RWD. I think that'd be more fun, more of an enthusiasts car for those that don't have the money/circumstances for a ralliart/evo.

I wouldn't 'expect' it to even come here but if it does, it better have the 2.4L, otherwise it will certainly be the slowest lancer model in Australia.

However spend a bit of money on it... It'll probably be more rewarding because you'll be able to actually use any extra power you get out of your car. Our cars are pretty light, more torque and coilovers etc would be a very exciting machine.

Hopefully people don't get sucked in by 'moar wheels is bettuh', unless they have a plan for the car

Ive seen different articles match the AWD to two different engines now (the 2.4 and the 2.0). No matter which engine it goes in it will be a waste of the technology. Either engine is still underpowered for such a platform that has high drivetrain losses. The FWD NA's will beat it at every chance.

The diesel and electric Lancers would be better options for Australia than a NA AWD. Plus the US market is different to the AU market. AU have no problems shifting any of the Lancers.

Do any people realize why you find turbo in most AWD applications?
